Dr Judith Dean President Dr Judith Dean is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Queensland, School of Public Health. She is a Registered Nurse/Midwife with over 25 years of national and international experience in sexual and reproductive health, humanitarian aid and health education. She has been an active SHSQ committee member for over 10 years, holding the position of President in 2012/13 and again from 2018. She is also currently the Co-Chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance. |
Dr Ian Anderson Vice PRESIDENT Ian is an ACRRM GP Trainee with an advanced skill in Sexual and Public Health. He works in in the northern Cape at the Bamaga Hospital and the surrounding NPA Primary Health Care Centres. He is a graduate of the University of Queensland and also holds a Masters of Public Policy from Simon Fraser University. Ian has worked in the HIV and Sexual Health sector for the last 10 years in Canada, Malawi, and Australia. He is involved with several sexual health projects with ASHM and other organisations in Australia. |
Ms Joanne Leamy Secretary Joanne is a Registered Nurse, and has worked in sexual health for 26 years. Joanne has Sexual and Reproductive Health Authorisation and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is currently working as Men’s, Women’s and Sexual Health Coordinator in Cape York (for Torres and Cape HHS), coordinates the syphilis outbreak response, and supports services to increase screening for STIs and BBVs. |
Dr Katelin Haynes Ordinary Member Dr Katelin Haynes is the CEO of Hepatitis Queensland and has been a member of the SHSQ committee since 2016. Katelin has a PhD in medical research from the Diamantina Institute, and has previously worked in various roles at the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM). |
Mr John Nicholas Ordinary Member John Nicholas has worked as a Registered Nurse for the last 14 years. The last 5 years have been dedicated to Sexual Health & HIV services with Queensaland Health and voluntary work within the community supporting NGO’s. His main focus is to provide and support equitable care for the diverse group of people that attend his clinic. |
Mrs Elena McLeish Ordinary Member Elena is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the Sexual Health and HIV sector for over 20 years, in both the UK and Australia. She has previously worked as a Clinical Nurse in the Sexual Health and HIV Services at Redcliffe and Brisbane and as a School Based Youth Health Nurse. Elena currently works as a Public Health Nurse on the Queensland Syphilis Surveillance Service (QSSS) and Contact Tracing Support Officer for Metro North HHS. |
Dr Fabiola Martin ORDINARY MEMBER Dr Fabiola is a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine and Royal College of Physicians, UK. She has been working as a Sexual Health, HIV and HTLV Specialist for over two decades. She has trained and worked in UK and moved to Brisbane in 2017. Fabiola is passionate about non-judgmental and accessible health care for all patient groups and has been specifically fighting for the rights of patients living with Human T Leukaemia virus Type 1 (HTLV-1). She is an s100 prescriber, sees patients at Stonewall Medical Centre and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at University of Queensland supporting the Queensland BBV/STI Professorial Chair Steering Committee. She is a member of the Queensland Sexual Health Network Committee. |
Ms Melinda Hassall Ordinary Member ‘Melinda is a Registered Nurse with experience in acute care, primary health care and public health, has completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion and a Masters degree in Public Health. Melinda is the Clinical Nurse Lead with ASHM and is responsible for the management and development of ASHM’s Nursing Program. Ensuring nurses have access to high quality and relevant BBV/STI education to enhance their professional development, advocating for policy and practice change for nurses to work to their full scope of practice are priorities |
Mr Brad Reuter Secretariat 2004 to 2020 Brad works as the Events & Marketing Support Officer for General Practice Training Queensland. Brad has been the Secretariat for the SHSQ for the last 9 years and manages the Society's events and general administrative duties. Brad has previously held the Secretary and Treasurer positions on the committee Brad has worked in Non-Government Organisations and community support services in Brisbane in the 1990's |
